I ought to talk about my birthday today. However, I just can’t help but make some blog out of what I and my officemates read in our office questionnaires answered by two clients today whom I will not name. It was so funny; I just can’t help but laugh out loud.
One question says: “How long are you living in the said property?”
The first client answered, “Yes”.
The question “Estimated monthly income”.
The other client wrote, “Beyond estimations and unexpectations”.
Isn’t it funny?
But between the two I was dismayed by the latter’s answer. I have not expected he will answer like that since he is a Secondary School Teacher 3. If all the teachers we have today are like him, what would happen to our children’s education? You cannot expect our children will learn proper English from them. As for me, I would never dare enroll my child to a school where teachers like them teaches. I will choose to home-school my children instead.
I think the problem is more than meets the eye. Our educational system is deteriorating. So what would we do? My suggestion is reinforce English language as medium of instruction in our schools. I am not unpatriotic but for the sake of argument not all English terms can be translated in our vernacular. We fall short of terms. So instead of enforcing one Philippine language (remember we have so many) – the Pilipino or Tagalog in particular let us just use the English language. This language is so handy in communicating with other nationalities, and is used in trading too. What do you think?
